This is a recipe with a fictitious name. I realized what I like most about sausage is the seasoning which is Sage. So I used ground turkey instead. Added lots of sage and it isn’t as greasy as sausage is. But as far as my family is concerned, it’s Sausage and Gravy.
Ingrediants
1/2 Pound Ground Turkey ( Use as much or as little as you like)
1- Tablespoon of All Purpose Flour
1-Tablespoon of Smart Balance Butter 50/50
1 Pinch of Salt & Pepper
3-4 Cups of 2% Milk
1/2 Tablespoon of Ground Sage
1/2 Teaspoon of Garlic Powder
1/2 Teaspoon of Onion Powder
Six Biscuits (See Biscuit Recipe From Earlier Post)
Melt Butter is large skillet on a Medium Low Setting on the stove. (If heat is too hot the flour/butter combination turns brown and burns.)
Add Flour. Mix around in skillet until all butter is absorbed.
Add Salt and Pepper
Add One Cup of Milk, Use a wisk to mix the Flour and Milk breaking down flour chunks until liquid is smooth.
Continue adding remainder of milk in the same way. Do not add milk all at once . Cooking time will take way longer.
End Result is a creamy gravy.
Add Ground Turkey and mix into the gravy.
Add Sage, Onion and Garlic Powder.
Slice open biscuit and pour gravy mixture over biscuits. Or poor over whole biscuit.
